Memories for Arie Poldervaart Family       Showing 1-1 of 1

So many memories..... from fireworks to volleyball games in the back yard.... hoping to get a treat from the Schwann man on his route to Grandpa and Grandma’s house.....to spending hours mowing the lawns on Grandpa’s riding lawnmower while he and his family were out of town on vacation......riding in the back of the red truck with the green camper shell on it and sitting in the chairs in the back of it....spending hours shooting hoops in the back yard while Grandpa sat in his chair watching through the kitchen window....picking strawberries and vegetables from his garden....the tart rhubarb pie that was made from the plant that grew in the front of the house by the little bed of water....watching black and white reels of family video out on the back porch and just laughing....the house all decked out in Christmas lights.....running down to the basement during tornado warnings.....spending hours playing the piano and Atari out on the back porch...watching the girls’ bedroom being built, seeing the deck built off the kitchen....not wanting to leave his and Grandma’s house and go home with my family on Sunday nights....most of all Grandpa’s beautiful eyes and his reassuring smile. I will miss his smile the most. Even though I have been gone from home for nearly 16 years and have only been home maybe a handful of times, in his deteriorating health, Grandpa always took the time to stop over to my dad and (step)mom’s house to visit with me when I came back. That made me feel loved by him. I will miss you Grandpa. I pray I will see you again. Love always, Michelle
