    Anita Aljets

    July 10, 1936 - June 27, 2021

    Anita Aljets, 84, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2021, at the UnityPoint Health-Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Services will be 1:00 PM on Thursday July 1, 2021, at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel in Fort Dodge. Burial will be at 4:00 PM on Thursday at the Union Cemetery in Pomeroy, Iowa. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until the time of service on Thursday at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Fort Dodge. Anita is survived by her three children Leanne (Doug) Shimon of Fort Dodge, Dr. Steven Aljets (Jana Matthes) of Johnston, Iowa and Adra (Koby) Hill of Sioux City, Iowa; eight grandchildren Kyle Fletcher, Alex Fletcher (Allison Cobb), Abby (Grant) Forsythe, Andrew Aljets, Brett Aljets, Justin Hill (Laura Knutsen), Jeremy Hill, and Joslyn Hill; and two great grandchildren. Anita is preceded in death by her parents, husband Arthur, a grandson Eric Aljets, her sisters Elaine Poundstone and Linda Duncan and her brother Jim Nelson. Anita Nelson, the daughter of Harold and Lillian (Johnson) Nelson, was born July 10, 1936, in Manson, Iowa and graduated from Manson High School. In 1958, she graduated as a registered nurse from the Iowa Lutheran School of Nursing in Des Moines. On January 2, 1960, Anita was united in marriage to Arthur Aljets in Manson and after their marriage the couple made Fort Dodge their home. Anita worked as a surgical nurse at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge for over 25 years. Her husband Arthur passed away January 16, 1996, and after his death, Anita continued to make her home in Fort Dodge.
