Betty Blunk

December 29, 1922 - August 21, 2021

It is with great sorrow that the family of Betty Blunk announces her passing on Saturday, August 21, 2021; after Total Hip Surgery, at the age of 98: Betty was born in Fort Dodge Iowa on December 29, 1922, to James and Ruby Scribner. Betty grew up in Fort Dodge Iowa. She married her high school sweetheart Glenn LaVerne Blunk on August 25, 1944 in Des Moines Iowa. Glenn and Betty adopted 3 children. Howard Glenn, Gene Louis, Mary Ellen and took care of Betty’s sisters son James Lamb for 6 years. Betty was actively involved in her church John Calvin Presbyterian Church in Apache Junction, Arizona. She loved collecting stamps with her daughter Mary, belonged to Mesa Stamp Club, traveled most of the United States, loved working on puzzles. She finished the genealogy of her family. Betty was loved very much by all of her family and many friends. She will be deeply missed by her daughter Mary Finch and James Lamb. Her grandchildren Arnie (Sharon) Finch, Teresa Ahrens, Byron Blunk, Micheal (Anu) Blunk, Jeanne Blunk. Her great grandchildren Haley Finch, Lauryl Wilkins, Kassie Wilkins. Her great great grandchildren Joseph (Byron), Madelyn (Jeanne). Her great great great grandchild Christopher (Lauryl). Betty will live on forever in our hearts. She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn, son in law Walter Finch, sons Howard and Gene, daughter in law Laura Blunk, 2 sisters Rose Lamb and Eva Everett. Surviving family daughter Mary, Jim Lamb, 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, 1 great great great grandchild. Betty will be taken back to Moorland, Iowa for her eternal resting place beside her husband Glenn. Graveside service will be Saturday May 28, 2022 at 11:00 am, at Fulton Township Cemetery Moorland, Iowa. Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge Iowa will be taking care of Betty.
