Jean M. Cartee Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Jean M. Cartee, 82, of Fort Dodge, died Friday, January 28, 2022, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Cremation rites will be accorded with Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. The family will greet friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Thursday, February 3, at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Memorials may be directed to the discretion of the family. Jean is survived by her children, Cindy (Marshall) Dodge, Fort Dodge; Ed (Carla) Black, Spirit Lake; Cathy (Roger) Bell, Johnston; Cheryl (Mike) Smith, and Greg (Stephanie) Black, all of Gowrie; stepchildren, Sherri (Brian) McLuckie, Fort Dodge; and Steve Cartee, Ames; 17 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and her sisters, Judy Huegal, Fort Dodge; Joyce Taylor, Callender; and Joann (Les) Allan, Fort Dodge. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Larry, her daughter Christine, her grandson Mike, and her sister Janet. Jean Marie Luke, the daughter of Lyle and Geraldine (Lamer) Luke, was born August 16, 1939, in Clarion. She graduated from Moorland High School in 1957. She was employed at Globe Union, Sara Lee Bakery, and she was a stay-at-home mom and homemaker. On August 14, 1991, Jean was united in marriage to Larry Cartee at Moorland. Jean enjoyed reading, baking cupcakes especially for her family, and traveling. She loved to attend the activities of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
