Jerald Jay Webb
August 14, 1947 - April 14, 2022
Jerald Jay Webb went home to be with God on April 14, 2022, peacefully at Iowa City Veterans Hospital with his daughters by his side. A celebration of life will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Pastor Marvin Smith will officiate with Military Honors by the U.S. Navy and VFW immediately following the service. Jerald served on active duty for the US Navy from 1965 until 1968, where he spent many months at sea on the USS Ranger 61. He was honorably discharged in 1968 he then listed in the Army reserves from 1968 until 1971 at that time was honorably discharged. He was married to Sandra Sommerfeld (Thurston) in 1971 and from that marriage had 3 children. Jerald worked for Iowa Central Community College for many years where he later retired. Jerald was a very vibrant person and was able to bring laughs and joy to everyone around him. He also enjoyed gardening with his son and enjoyed his time with his family and friends and making everyone laugh. Jerald joined his son Dan Webb, his grandson Jacob Webb, Mother Rita Webb, Father Paul Webb, Brother Robert Webb, Sister Mary (Webb) Mielitz and many other friends and family in heaven. He will be forever loved and remembered by his daughters Shelly Webb (Mark Tubbs) Angie Webb (Trent Hancox), his daughter-in-law Stacy Webb, his brothers John Webb and Larry Webb, his sister Paula Rychnovsky. Grandchildren Kailey Tubbs, Alex Tubbs, Chelsie Tubbs, Ethan Webb, Emma Webb, Jazmine Odor, Carson Odor, Lexi Louk and Brayden Louk and 4 great grandchildren and many more family and friends.
