Judith Schwanz, 78, of Badger, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at the Fort Dodge Health & Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel with the Pastor Scott Meier officiating. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Fort Dodge. Judy is survived by her husband, Tom; their two children, Tammi (Hank) Trites of Granville, Ohio and Jill (Paul) Eldal of Moorland; three grandchildren, Adam Schwanz, Hailey Schwanz, and Josie Eldal, and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Rodney Christenson of Florida. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, her son Joel in 1996, and a granddaughter, Allison Joelle Eldal. Judith Betty Christenson, the daughter of Roger and Marjorie (Saunders) Christenson, was born April 23, 1944, in Boone County, Iowa. Judy graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1962 and then attended Cosmetology School. On July 15, 1962, Judy was united in marriage to Tom Schwanz. After their marriage, the couple made Fort Dodge their home until 1969 when they moved to Badger. Judy worked as a cosmetologist for many years after the couple started their family. Judy loved to take care of her family and her home. The biggest part of Judy’s life was watching her children grow and being involved with their many school sporting events. For a few years Judy worked in the kitchen at the Fort Dodge High School. Her greatest joy was to be a wife, mother, and grandmother. Judy was a member of Badger Lutheran Church and loved to crochet and quilt. She enjoyed giving her hand made art away as much as she enjoyed making them. Flowers were also a big part of Judy’s life. The joy of caring for her flower garden year after year always brought a smile to her face. She belonged to Community Bible Study before Alzheimer’s required her to stay home. She had an incredible faith, and she treasured all the friendships she made through Bible Study.
