Phyllis J. Clemens, 89, of Fort Dodge, died Monday, March 9, 2020, at Simpson Health Center of Friendship Haven. Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 13, at Corpus Christi Church, with Monsignor Kevin McCoy celebrating. Interment will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery. Visitation is 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. There will be a Rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a Vigil for the Deceased at 7:00 p.m. Phyllis is survived by her sons, Jeffrey (Merri), of Altoona; Scott, of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Keegan, of Casper, Wyo.; Kelsey, of Denver, Colo.; Grant, Peyton and Chase, all of Dallas, Tex.; one great granddaughter Justice, of Casper, Wyo.; and her brother Robert ‘Skip’ Ostrander, of Fort Dodge. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband W.E. ‘Clem’ Clemens and her sister Shirley Rosburg. Phyllis Jean Ostrander, the daughter of Leroy and LaTeresa (Stringer) Ostrander, was born February 3, 1931, in Fort Dodge. She graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1949. On June 16, 1951, Phyllis was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Warren Clemens, and they were married for 67 years before he died in 2018. Phyllis was employed for many years at Mercy Hospital, in Fort Dodge, and later with Doctors Sutton & Secor as a medical secretary. Phyllis was a member of Holy Trinity Parish. She enjoyed spending her quiet time reading and going for walks. She loved being a member of the St. Edmond community where she volunteered, and attending the events of her grandchildren.
