Rebecca Jean Shelton

Rebecca (Becky) Jean Shelton, 89, of Fort Dodge, died Friday, November 26, 2021 at Friendship Haven. Visitation will be held at Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 4, 2021, with Services immediately following at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at a later date at Graceland Cemetery in Webster City, Iowa. Rebecca Jean Fletchall was born October 15, 1932 to Clyde and Evelyn (Rhodes) Fletchall in rural Duncombe, Iowa. She enjoyed growing up on the farm with her brothers, Lyle, Loren and Lynn Fletchall. Becky was active in 4-H and was a member of the Cass Red Peppers of Hamilton County. Becky attended country school in rural Hamilton County, and graduated from Webster City Lincoln High School in 1950. She was Secretary and Treasurer of her Senior Class. Becky was united in marriage to Robert (Bob) Cecil Shelton on September 9, 1950. Following Bob’s discharge from the United States Army, the couple raised their family and farmed near Otho, Iowa. Bob and Becky were partners in life and Becky helped to keep the books for the farm business, led bean walking crews, drove tractors and grain trucks, and prepared and delivered meals to the field. Becky was a member of the Fort Dodge Quilt Club. She was also a member of the Methodist Church and attended services with congregations in Otho, Lehigh and at Trinity United Methodist Church in Fort Dodge. Becky is survived by her children and their spouses, Donald (Wanda) Shelton of Thor; Britt (Pam) of Lake Panorama, Mark (Laura) of Otho, Lori (Dallas) Woock of Fort Dodge, and Patti Beeler of Center Point; 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; her parents, Clyde and Evelyn; her brother, Lyle; her son-in-law, Bruce Beeler; and her great grandson, Lucas Shelton. The family would like to thank Friendship Haven, especially the team members at the Gardens 100 and Journey’s, for the wonderful care provided to Becky during her time there. Memorials may be left to Friendship Haven’s Mission and Vision fund.
