Robert Eugene Larson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Robert E. Larson, 77, of Fort Dodge, died Monday, July 18, 2022, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. A service honoring Robert’s life will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 21, at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Gary Snook officiating. Interment will follow in Blossom Hill Cemetery near Badger. Visitation is 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Memorials may be directed to the discretion of the family. Robert is survived by his brothers, Jim (Dianne) Larson, Cedar Falls; Ken (Yelena) Larson, Houston, Tex.; his brother-in-law Vern (Jean) Byl, Waverly; and two generations of beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Carol Byl. Robert Eugene Larson, the son of Prentiss and Blanche (Erb) Larson, was born December 14, 1944, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Dodge. He grew up on a farm near Badger and attended country school and Badger School before graduating from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1963. He attended Fort Dodge Junior College for two years. While in high school and college, Robert was the school photographer. Early on, he worked in the offices for Gus Glaser Meats, United States Gypsum and Hawkeye Hail. Later, he was self employed as a business auditor for which he traveled extensively through the Midwest. Robert was an avid collector and enjoyed following sports. He was known as a handyman who could fix anything. He was a recipient of the Governor’s Award for Volunteerism which he received from Governor Terry Branstad for his community efforts. Robert enjoyed family gatherings and celebrations and enjoyed time spent with his nieces and nephews.
