John H. Schild

April 15, 1950 - December 10, 2021

John H. Schild, 71, of Badger, passed away at Friendship Haven on December 10th, 2021. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, December 16th, 2021 at Prairie Lakes Church in Fort Dodge. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 15th, 2021 from 4 pm - 7 pm at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Fort Dodge. He was born in Belle Plaine, Iowa on April 15th, 1950. He was adopted at age 8 by Marcus and Elenora Schild in Newton, Iowa. He graduated from Newton High School and went to Dunwoody Tech College in Minneapolis as well as Marshalltown Community College with a focus of drafting and carpentry. His career centered around building and woodworking as he worked for Capp Homes and Moehl Millwork in Des Moines and the following companies in Fort Dodge: Lumbermen’s Millwork Supply, Payless Cashways and Menards. One of his major accomplishments was building his family’s house in Fort Dodge and designing his recently built handicapped accessible home. Woodworking, building decks, and model trains were also some of his favorite hobbies. He had a strong faith and believed in the Lord, Jesus Christ. John loved his family and was united in marriage to Jennifer Sommer in 1973 in Newton, Iowa. He is survived by his children Jessica (Chris) Williams of Rochester, Minnesota, Josh (Jennifer) Schild of Eagle Grove, Jonathan Schild of St. Cloud, Minnesota, Jacob (Jesica) Schild of Fort Dodge, Julie (Eric) Amend of Vincent, Jordan Schild of Ayrshire, Jenna Schild of Estherville, Justin (Hallie) Schild of Fort Dodge, Josie Schild of Badger, and 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Marcus and Elenora Schild, step-mother Beth Schild, daughter Jaclyn Schild.
