Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fort Dodge. Laura Jacqueline VanVacter was born in Sioux City, Iowa on September 8, 1994. Laura’s family and friends were so very important to her. She had a magnetic personality, a quick wit, an electric smile, and a very giving heart. Laura wanted to help everyone she met. Laura loved her grandparents. She visited with them daily dropping off a Frappe for her grandmother and tormenting her granddad. In all of Laura’s travels she held onto the blanket that grandma had given her. She called it grandma’s hug. Laura loved her brothers and sister. She enjoyed time spent with them whether in person or through social media. Laura loved her nieces and nephews. They knew when they saw Aunt Laura it meant there was candy nearby. Laura loved her parents. She always called them mommy and daddy. Displaying her always child-like affection for them. Laura loved her dog Rehnezmay. She enjoyed the Time she spent walking dogs her with her special friend and mentor Big R (Rhonda Richardson) and the talks the two of them had. For most of Laura’s time with us on earth she was seeking to discover where she belonged. She was uncertain of who she was. She wanted to fit in. God set her apart for a very special purpose. Miracles were performed on and through Laura so all could see the majesty of our God. In August of 2018, God performed a miracle through Laura. Laura’s heart stopped three times. She was placed on life support for over a week while God worked on her heart spiritually. People prayed with her and for her, sat with her and watched as God worked to bring her back and set a foundation in her that would grow. Over the last year that spiritual growth exploded as she surrendered her life to the will of God. Laura and those that knew her were proud of her accomplishment of nearly a year of sobriety. She was given the opportunity to share her testimony before a congregation moving the people that heard it. She nurtured relationships with the people that loved her. She began a new job at KFC that she loved. She would send encouraging messages to people that she knew were hurting and needed encouragement. She began her own ministry that made people feel supported and loved. She would send messages to people every Sunday. “It’s Sunday Make Good Choices.” This touched people that we are still finding out about. She took the time in this message to personalize them to the individual So they would know the importance they held in her life. Laura’s work here was completed on November 21, 2020 after a short illness when God called her to her eternal home to receive her reward. She leaves behind her parents Jerry and Kelle VanVacter. Her grandparents Doc and Carole Williams and Chuck Gadd. Her brothers and sister, Justen (Jessica) VanVacter, Leah (Matt) Gaillard, Caleb VanVacter, and Lennox VanVacter. She also leaves behind her nieces and nephew, Alayna, Oliver, Isla, Elowyn Gaillard. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Almost Home Humane Society.
